Richard Sherman gives strong reaction to Cam Newton’s deal

Seemingly out of the blue, star quarterback Cam Newton inked a deal with the New England Patriots. The news in itself was a shock, but San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman was not happy with Newton’s mediocre NFL contract. On Twitter, Sherman called Newton’s minimum deal “ridiculous” and “disgusting.” For the NFL star, the Patriots should’ve given Newton a better deal given his resume which includes three Pro Bowl selections and an MVP trophy. How many former League MVPs have had to sign for the min? (Asking for a friend.) just ridiculous. A transcendent talent and less talented QBs are getting 15/16m a year. Disgusting https://t.co/eZycGL8qkZ— Richard Sherman (@RSherman_25) June 29, 2020Newton, for his part, seems content with just getting another shot after various injuries limited his playing time last season. The 2015 NFL MVP played started just two games due to an injured shoulder and a foot fracture, among others.Cam Newton, who just wanted a chance to compete, weighs in on his new team after agreeing to join the #Patriots. pic.twitter.com/UUmIOMIhXQ— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) June 29, 2020Some analysts see Cam Newton as the replacement for Tom Brady. To recall, Brady surprised the NFL when he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a decorated career with the Patriots that includes six Super Bowl titles. However, this isn’t immediately the case. According to reports, Newton is not guaranteed the starting spot and still has to prove his worth at training camp before rightfully being called Brady’s successor.Prior to Newton, Bill Belichick and crew had been grooming 23-year-old Jarrett Stidham in the QB post. Like any other youngster, Stidham needs much polishing, but the Patriots have expressed their confidence in Stidham’s skillset. From the looks of it, the Pats are keeping their standards high at the QB spot. Yes, Newton is one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, but the Patriots need solid proof that he was the same supreme athlete prior to injuries. !function(f,b,e,v,n,t,s){if(f.fbq)return;n=f.fbq=function(){n.callMethod?
